1. Australia's cheapest electric SUV just got even cheaper
Forget the BYD Atto 2 — the 2027 Leapmotor B03X just took the cheapest-electric-SUV crown. It's on sale now from $26,990 before on-road costs (or $29,990 drive-away on a national launch offer), undercutting the Atto 2 by a full $5,000. The base Style grade runs a 39.8kWh LFP battery with 130kW, while the Design Long Range steps up to a 53kWh pack, 145kW and $30,990 before on-roads. Charging is a cut above BYD's game too: 100kW DC on the Style, 133kW DC on the Long Range, and 11kW AC across the range. You get a 14.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8.8-inch digital cluster as standard — not bad for money that's barely hatchback territory. The B03X hits Australian showrooms next month.

2. Kia goes all-in on hybrids and fast EVs in Paris
Kia turned up to the 2026 Paris Motor Show with a proper electrified spread. The big one is the all-new Seltos Hybrid's European premiere — Kia's second best-seller globally, and notably its first model with an e-AWD system for smarter torque distribution. Alongside it, the K4 Hybrid makes its European debut in hatchback and Sportswagon forms ahead of production starting 15 October. The fun stuff? Kia's complete five-model GT electric family — the newly launched EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT joining the EV6 GT and EV9 GT — plus the PV5 Passenger and PV5 Cargo electric vans. Kia says hybrids are powering its run as Europe's fastest-growing top-10 brand, up 9.0% year-to-date with 4.1% market share. Hybrids pay the bills today, GTs sell the dream tomorrow — fair call.

3. Stellantis teases six concepts — including a €15,000 electric 2CV
Stellantis has dropped six concept cars spanning electric, hybrid and future design ideas, and the standout is a real throwback: a Citroën 2CV Concept reimagining the classic duck as a simple, affordable EV targeted at €15,000 and built in Europe. No production plans yet, but that's a headline price if it ever happens. In the mix: the Peugeot RCZ Vision, a high-performance electric study on the STLA One platform with steer-by-wire and a next-gen Hypersquare cockpit; the Opel STX Concept, a future design direction for estate cars; and the Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso, a full-hybrid 2.9-litre V6 with Q4 all-wheel drive and a carbon-fibre driveshaft. Concepts are concepts — most of this won't see a showroom — but a sub-€15k European EV with actual charm? That's worth watching.
